Who for:-                      Those people who have attended the “Navigator Level 1” course or have

                                        reached an equivalent standard, and would like to increase their working

                                        knowledge.

                                        The best way to enhance your map and compass skills is to actually get out

                                        into the “Great Outdoors” and use them!  The  Compassworks  team  have

                                        designed this totally outdoor fun day to iron out any problems you may have,

                                        and will be a great opportunity to discuss with others the techniques involved

                                        while Navigating.

What will be covered:-

• Orientating the map to match the ground.

• Navigating using handrails.

• Using the lightweight compass to navigate on magnetic bearings.

• Contours and simple line features.

• Route planning.

• Walking safely.

Method:-                        A totally outdoor day of practical exercises.

Terrain:-                         6 - 8 kilometres over semi rough open moorland.

Equipment:-                 All navigational equipment is provided. Participants will need to bring suitable

                                         clothing and footwear for outdoor work. (see recommended clothing list).

Catering:-                      Please bring your own packed lunch and drinks.
