Brai tor, on which is situated the famous granite Widgery cross, is to your left as you ascend away from the river Lyd. The views already towards the south and west are superb. After passing Doe tor on your right you will step back in time by visiting the remains of Foxhole’s mine, where tin ore was extracted from the surrounding area.

On to Great Links tor now, and one of the finest tors and vantage points on the whole
of Dartmoor is your next destination. The Trig. point on top of the granite pile
tells you that you are at 586m above sea level -
Gradually moving west via Arms tor you will enjoy the gentle downward route back to the start, where a most welcome glass of beer or wine can be bought at the Fox and Hounds to really round off the walk in style!
